To Swim and Speak with Salmon

To Swim and Speak with Salmon is an Indigenous-led training program based in the Yukon, focused on empowering the next generation of salmon leaders. Their name asks something maybe radical in modern culture: what if we speak with an animal instead of about it? This project taught that me salmon are teachers, magnifiers of spirit and nobility. Their bodies feed everything from trees to bears, eagles, foxes, and the soil itself. One of my favourite freelance projects and I think that can be felt in the designs. Each salmon painting, colour palette, illustrated landscape, collection of sentences and drawn maps were crafted in collaboration with care and excitement.
